The head of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service expected before the committee studying the allegations of foreign interference

The head of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is among witnesses expected Thursday at a parliamentary committee studying allegations of foreign interference in the elections.

Representatives from CSIS, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Elections Canada will return to the House Affairs Committee, where some of them have already testified.

CSIS Director David Vigneault is due to appear for the first time.

The committee heard on Wednesday from National Security Adviser Jody Thomas and members of a task force that provide officials with information on possible election threats.

On this occasion, NDP MP Peter Julian called for a public inquiry into foreign interference in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections, which the Bloc Québécois and the Conservatives also want.
