Franco-Russian doctor-anesthetist usually officiating in Lille (North), Arsène Sabanieev is in Ukraine to bring help to his country of origin.
Arsène Sabanieev is 32 years old. He is Franco-Ukrainian, and since the beginning of the war, he has been saving lives in Ukraine. “There, we can put up to six patients lying down, there is an oxygen circuit so we can have intubated and ventilated patients”, describes Arsène, anesthesiologist-resuscitator, in a city bus completely refitted to transport wounded soldiers. Anesthesiologist in Lille, Arsène left everything to help his country of origin. First in kyiv, at the start of the war, then in Bakhmout, in the Donbass.
Exposed to Russian fire
“You have to sort things out, make decisions quickly while remaining under constant fire. Several members of the medical post died during the three weeks I was there.” recalls the Franco-Ukrainian before emphasizing that he is there to “Do your part in this conflict.” That day, Arsène and his team go to pick up wounded soldiers on the front in order to transport them to a hospital, to a safe place.
