“Let’s continue” with the tax cuts

In recent days, several voices have been raised for the Minister of Finance, Eric Girard, to change his mind about the tax cut promised by his political party during the last campaign.

The pressure is strong. As usual, people and associations against the tax cuts say that now is not the right time, that it is time to invest more in the priorities of the State like health and education.

However, we must recognize that it is not money that is currently lacking. For example, we spend approximately one billion on health every week in Quebec. It’s starting to make a lot of money!

Generations Fund

Ideally, the tax cut would not be made at the expense of the Generations Fund.

For the CAQ, it seems that this is the only way to fulfill their promise. However, there are probably two or three places where we could have saved money.

Quebeckers deserve a tax cut, but future generations deserve that we take care of the debt now.

A difficult dilemma, but voters decided on October 3 to go ahead with the plan proposed by the CAQ.

However, it may be time for governments to stop taking money out of taxpayers’ pockets and then giving it back to us to win elections.

Keep promises

Last fall, François Legault kept repeating the CAQ’s slogan: “Let’s continue! »

With an ultra majority mandate, it is difficult for Mr. Legault not to respect his promises and not to continue with the game plan he presented to us during the election.

Present, in the by-election in Saint-Henri–Sainte-Anne, the CAQ signs are unequivocal, they talk about tax cuts.

Thus, we must not hold our breath too much, it smells of tax cuts on March 21 in the budget.

Let’s hope that despite the pressure, Eric Girard will stay the course.
