A business targeted by gunfire in downtown Montreal

Shots were fired Wednesday morning at a business in the borough of Ville-Marie, in Montreal.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was alerted shortly before 5 a.m. by 911 calls relating to gunshots heard on Crescent Street, near Sainte-Catherine Street West.

When the police arrived on the scene, they located at least one casing on the roadway and a bullet hole on the building housing the business.

No one was injured and no arrests were made, since the suspect or suspects would have fled before the arrival of the police, said the SPVM spokesperson.

A security perimeter was erected to protect the scene for investigators and forensic identification technicians. They will try to determine the circumstances of this shooting.
