Quebec reports 1,256 new cases of COVID-19 and 1 additional death

The number of new cases of COVID-19 once again exceeds 1,200.

According to data released Sunday by the Ministry of Health, 1,256 new cases have been identified since the previous report. The authorities reported 1512 the day before.

They have identified 454,636 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Santé-Québec indicates that 661 of these 1,256 new cases had not been vaccinated or had received a first dose less than 14 days ago. Authorities add that 570 newly infected people had received two doses for at least seven days.

The average for the last seven days is 1,144.

A new death has been added to the death toll. We now deplore 11,587 deaths linked to COVID-19 since its appearance in Quebec.

The situation has improved slightly in hospitals where the number of patients has increased from 225 to 219. However, 59 people are reported in intensive care, one less than the day before.

The number of active outbreaks increased from 806 to 819.

A total of 33,6506 analyzes were performed on December 4. The positivity rate increased by a tenth of a point to 4.1.

No less than 24,056 doses of vaccine have been administered over the past 24 hours, including 20,537 first doses to children aged 5 to 11 years and 2785 booster doses to persons aged 70 and over.

One-quarter of children aged 5 to 11 received a first dose of the vaccine, putting the percentage of eligible people who received a first dose at 86%.

About 81% of this segment of the population is adequately immunized.
