“My songs are the best therapy”, says Shakira

(Mexico) “My songs are the best therapy, they are more effective than a session with a psychologist or a psychoanalyst”, launched the Colombian star Shakira during her first interview since the release of her new song where she goes vigorously takes on his ex-partner, Gerard Pique.

The recording in January of BZRP Music Session #53 was for her “an outlet”, Shakira assured Monday evening on Mexican television during a half-hour interview.

“I entered the studio in one state of mind and left in another. […] it was a great outlet, necessary for my healing, for my recovery process,” she explained.

“I don’t think I would be where I am today without this song, without the ability to express myself, to reflect on the pain,” Shakira added.

According to her, it was her 10-year-old son Milan who suggested she record with Argentinian producer Bizarrap. “He told me ‘you have to do something with Bizarrap, he’s the Argentinian god’,” she said.

Shakira and the 36-year-old ex-footballer announced their separation in June after more than a decade together, during which they had two children, Milan and Sasha.

“A lot of gym, but also work your brain a little”, “You changed a Ferrari for a Twingo”, “A Rolex for a Casio”, “I will not come back to you, even if you cry or beg me” , “I have surpassed you and that’s why you are with someone like you”, scratches Shakira in her song which also attacks the new partner of Gerard Pique, the Spaniard Clara Chia, 23 years.

This is the third song she has dedicated to the separation of the couple, after Congratulations And Monotonia.
