The government has announced a new food aid plan for the most vulnerable. Rather than a new check, it intends to rely on initiatives that already exist in France, and which also allow beneficiaries to have a healthier diet.

Every Tuesday, students from Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) pick up their order: a basket of organic vegetables. Its price is three euros. A rate that is reserved for students by a local association. Without this offer, some would go without fresh produce. To develop these initiatives, the government is launching a plan called “Eating better for all”.

60 million euros released

With this government plan, 60 million euros will be released to help the four million beneficiaries of food aid. A budget from which Cocotte, a place managed by the Salvation Army, could benefit. In this shared kitchen, baskets of leeks, potatoes and carrots are cooked on site. For a mother, coming here is the guarantee of better food. Opened in July, the shared kitchen is already full.
