Like an air of the end of the world for some. The famous “potatoes” of McDonald’s, this kind of rustic fries, will be replaced from March 7 next by other vegetables in the 1,500 French restaurants. If customers will still be able to eat fries, “potatoes” and their famous sauce Creamy Deluxe will therefore be dethroned in favor of carrots, parsnips and red beets, vegetables chosen, according to the giant at the M d’or, for their “nutritional qualities“.
More than 3,000 tonnes of vegetables will thus be produced especially for this operation, compared to the 210,000 tonnes of potatoes purchased each year by the chain in France. A marketing operation which aims, according to the sign to be made, “discover new tastes“, and to “celebrate the strong bond“from McDonald’s”with the French terroir“.
And yet: if it is true that McDonald’s fries are 100% French, on the other hand, “potatoes”, they are often grown in the Netherlands, then transformed by the number 1 partner of the brand, the McCain company.
