huge tribute to Serge Gainsbourg, his daughter Charlotte takes over “Like a boomerang” with the rapper Dinos!

On Friday February 24, 2023, the Olympia hosted the 48th Cesar ceremony. As the awards went on, a musical break took place. Charlotte Gainsbourg accompanied by the rapper Dinos reinterpreted, like a boomerang written by Serge Gainsbourg in 1974 (Besides, Etienne Daho had shared a duet on this piece with the singer, Dani, editor’s note). An innovative version with voice and piano that enchanted the audience.

At the end of their performance, Charlotte Gainsbourg wanted to pay tribute to her father and to this title which he had refused to rewrite because “too sulphurous” at the time.

Dinos particularly thanked the Césars academy for “to have allowed the world of rap to enter the Césars”. This performance also allowed him to become the first French rapper in history to sing at a Cesar ceremony.

The two artists took the opportunity to present the César for best soundtrack. And for the first time, this statuette went to a woman, Irène Drésel. “It’s been 48 years since the Césars of cinema have existed, for these long years five women have previously been nominated but none of them have ever been rewarded. So this César, I dedicate it to all women composers of music”, said the one who took care of the film’s soundtrack Full time.

In this category, she is ahead of Grégoire Hetzel (for The Innocent of Louis Garrel), and above all Alexandre Desplat (for Cut! by Michel Hazanavicius), rewarded three times already by the Académie des César (out of ten nominations), and twice at the Oscars.
