Women’s descent of Lake Louise | Adjustments lead Marie-Michèle Gagnon to the top 10

Marie-Michèle Gagnon wanted to quickly forget her 16e spot on Friday at the first World Cup of the season in Alberta. Still on the women’s descent, the skier from Lac-Etchemin pierced the top 10 Saturday by ranking 9e.

Gagnon had made a costly mistake the day before in a significant portion of the course. After analyzing the sequence with her coach, the Quebecer noticed that she had taken the wrong line and was ready to make the adjustments.

“As soon as I saw that on the video, I understood and I knew I was not going to make the same mistake today,” she told Sportcom.

In this same section on Saturday, she was among the fastest this time and finally crossed the finish line with a time of 1 min 50.02 s (+ 1.6 seconds).

It’s a solid performance, and I’m happy with the way I skied. It’s a good result, but I know there are even more possibilities. I expect more than that, but I take it to progress with confidence.

American Breezy Johnson (+ 0.84 seconds) finished second again, while Corinne Suter (+ 0.98 seconds) of Switzerland completed the podium.

Marie-Michèle Gagnon will be back this Sunday at the World Cup in Lake Louise for the Super-G event.

“It’s always cool to run at home, even though I’m from Quebec! My family is there, several friends, like former runners or other alpine ski people. It always gives a nice atmosphere, ”concluded Gagnon.
