Russell Westbrook officially joins the Clippers

(Los Angeles) Russell Westbrook officially became a member of the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday.

The member of nine all-star teams was waived by the Jazz, but no club could absorb the remaining 47 million in his contract.

Westbrook will reunite with Paul George, a former teammate with Oklahoma City.

There’s a slim chance Westbrook will be able to train with his new club on Thursday, if he passes a medical.

Hailing from the Los Angeles area, Westbrook shone with UCLA.

He spent less than two seasons with the Lakers before being traded to the Jazz earlier this month.

This season, the 15-year veteran has averaged 15.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.1 assists in 52 games.

For about three weeks, the Clippers have also acquired Eric Gordon, Bones Hyland and Mason Plumlee.

Fourth in the West (33-28), the Clippers will host the Sacramento Kings on Friday. A “bobblehead” by Frenchman Nicolas Batum will be given to the first 10,000 supporters.

The club will host the Toronto Raptors on March 8.
