Distributor and producer La Ruelle Films has announced showings in Egypt, India, China, Turkey, Romania, Iceland, Czechia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Bosnia, Guinea and Burkina Faso, in addition to the scheduled broadcasts in the United States and France.

“We are delighted that the film will be presented in all these countries. It is unbelievable that it is demanded in places like China or Burkina Faso, where human rights are in jeopardy. Obviously, we have put our finger on a universal problem, ”said directors Léa Clermont-Dion and Guylaine Maroist, in a press release.

The first American screening (Backlash: Misogyny in the Digital Age, in English) took place on February 7 at the Vermont State Capitol in Montpellier, in a crowded House of Representatives; requests have been increasing ever since for screenings across the country. Kiah Morris, one of the protagonists of the documentary and ex-Democratic representative of the state of Vermont, sat there before being forced to resign following online harassment and threats by members of the far right.

Rights & Democracy Vermont has also launched a petition asking elected officials to take concrete measures to prevent cyberviolence in the United States, like the Stop Cyberviolence in Quebec petition, which has reached nearly 30,000 signatures since its launch. launched in the fall and officially tabled in the National Assembly of Quebec.

In France, the film will be screened for the first time on April 13 in Montpellier, during a screening organized by the Abolition34 collective.
