“Petites”, a story of women

In the movie Small, in theaters Wednesday, February 22, Camille, 16, is already at a crossroads. Her encounters during her pregnancy will give her strength. The director wanted her to be combative, a bit like her. Indeed, Julie Lerat-Gersant put all her energy into writing this portrait close to reality, inspired by writing workshops that she led in a maternal center in Caen (Calvados). She tells : “It was obvious to want to place my first fiction in these places.”

“The script shocked me”

With this film, the director breathes fresh air, carried by young actresses full of truth. Romane Bohringer, too rare in the cinema, lends her features to Nadine, a mirror character. She specifies: “The scenario upset me, I ended up in tears.” Already awarded at the Locarno festival, hailed by the public during the first screenings, Small touches the heart. This film about motherhood gives birth to a filmmaker who, with this first feature film, makes us grow.
