(Pittsburgh) Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry will be in goal Monday night when the New York Islanders are the visitors.
Jarry hasn’t played since Jan. 22 due to an upper-body injury. He was scheduled to start Jan. 24 against the Florida Panthers, but his name was dropped from the roster less than an hour before the start of the game.
The Penguins have been in all sorts of trouble in his absence, going just 4-5-0 in their last nine outings. With two months left in the season, their streak of 16 playoff appearances is in jeopardy.
Healthy, Jarry has been solid this season. He is 16-5-5 with a 2.65 goals-against average and .921 save percentage in 27 starts. The Penguins are 11-14-4 when he’s not playing.
Heading into Monday’s games, the Penguins were the No. 1 draft team in the East. Five clubs are within three points or less of the Penguins.
