Tasty activities not to be missed during Montréal en lumière!

Champagne aperitif

Among the dozens of gourmet proposals on the Montréal en lumière menu, some invite us to swap the traditional dinner for more original avenues. This is the case until March 4 at Lloyd, a beautiful restaurant that opened its doors last summer inside the Montreal Marriott Château Champlain hotel. What exactly does it offer us? A happy hour formula in collaboration with the venerable Deutz champagne house, which has existed since 1838. For less than $60 per person, we will be entitled to two glasses of champagne accompanied by five generous and elegant savory bites (with foie gras , truffles and caviar, among others) and as many sweets, concocted by the talented chef Kevin Mougin and his team. An unbeatable value for money.

At the table with Riopelle

As part of the centenary of the painter Jean Paul Riopelle, another great creator, chef Normand Laprise, has decided to pay homage to him through the taste buds. On February 22, the prestigious restaurant Toqué!, itself located along Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle (it can’t be invented!), will be offering a five-course menu inspired by the works of this iconic artist. A memorable and unifying event in perspective.

Nourishing appointments

Conferences, get-togethers, cooking demonstrations, tastings… This year, the Quartier gourmand de Montréal en lumière is offering us some fifty flavorful activities. Hosted by the show’s leaders Bitten, Jérémie Jean-Baptiste and Amine Laabi, journalist Geneviève Vézina-Montplaisir, ethnologist Isabelle Picard and sommelier Michelle Bouffard, these meetings will allow us, for example, to discover an urban fish farming company in Montreal, to learn indigenous culinary traditions (including the recipe for the famous sagamité soup), to introduce us to vegan pastry and the know-how of panettones Italians, to know the origins of our chocolates or even to transport us, one glass at a time, to the vineyards of the Rhone Valley, in France. Also worth noting are summit meetings on food waste and “sustainable drinking”. In short, a very nice program, often free, not to be missed!
