The 13 Hours of Saturday February 18 went to meet the rapper Lomepal, 31 years old and already three albums to his credit. In the middle of the Zénith tour where he is sold out everywhere, the artist celebrates the marriage of rap and French song in his music.
A melancholy rapper in disappointed love stories, here is the universe of Antoine Valentinelli alias Lomepal, his stage name. France 2 met him just after one of his concerts. “It was a lot of emotions. All of a sudden when people sing, everything makes sense (…)“, says the rapper. Lomepal likes to cover the tracks. Coming from rap, he now sings with a rock band.
“I like to go to other horizons”
So does Lomepal still consider himself a rapper? “I don’t really know because I’m not a rocker (…), I write like a rapper (…) I like to put it in my songs but I don’t like to put that, I I also like to go to other horizons”, he replies. The artist also confides that he was passionate about the Beatles, especially during the period of covid in 2020. “It was one of those things that told me ‘but in fact, I have to go further'”says Lomepal.
