Bruce Willis suffers from incurable dementia, according to his family

Symbol of the American hero, Bruce Willis saved the planet in many films. A year after the end of his career, the 67-year-old actor suffers from incurable dementia, according to his family. According to his ex-girlfriend, actress Demi Moore, “Bruce’s condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (or FTD).” This Alzheimer’s-like neurodegenerative disease causes memory problems, behavioral changes, and difficulty moving and speaking.

A language disorder in 2022

In 2022, it was also Demi Moore who announced to the media the aphasia of Bruce Willis. “Aphasia is a language disorder (…) that can affect the ability to speak and understand language”, explains Brenda Rapp, a specialist in cognitive sciences in Baltimore (United States). By announcing the evolution of his disease, the relatives of Bruce Willis hope to raise awareness among the general public and to advance research.
