The debates in the hemicycle on the pension reform end on the evening of Friday February 17, probably without reaching article 7 which raises the retirement age to 64 years. Two weeks marked by heated debates between the majority and the opposition parties.
After two weeks of tension in the National Assembly, punctuated by tough debates and spades, it’s time to take stock. The presidential majority is weakened by its approximations on the number of pensioners concerned by the minimum pension of 1,200 euros per month. The opposition did not fail to point this out. Labor Minister Olivier Dussopt said “[ne pas avoir] accountability.”
Internal tensions and motion of censure
To curry sympathy with Republicans, the Prime Minister declared that people starting work at 17 would not contribute until they were 43. The Nupes is agitated by its internal tensions: the elected socialists, ecologists and communists have withdrawn thousands of amendments to advance the debates. Marine Le Pen, of the National Rally, tabled a motion of censure against the government; it will be discussed the night of Friday 17 February in the hemicycle.
