In her first season on the Freeride World Tour, Quebecer Justine Dufour-Lapointe made sure to participate in the final rounds of the circuit thanks to an excellent performance during the third stop of the campaign, Friday in Golden, British Columbia.
At the dawn of this crucial day, the 28-year-old athlete was in second place in the general classification and she had to make sure to stay in the top 5 to get her ticket to the finals.
By virtue of a descent which earned her 5120 points, the double Olympic medalist ended the day at the foot of the podium.
“I feel so pampered and happy to be able to be here and ski in Canada, at home, in front of an incredible crowd,” said Dufour-Lapointe after the event. I felt the energy [de la foule] throughout my descent.
“Honestly, I was still feverish. I’m so proud to be able to freeride in front of my family watching me.”
This brought her total points to 15,120. She thus sits third overall and will be joined by Americans Addison Rafford and Molly Armanino, Swiss Elisabeth Gerritzen and Frenchwoman Megane Betend in the finals.
In addition to being part of the final rounds, which will take place in Austria and Switzerland, Dufour-Lapointe has secured his place on the Freeride World Tour for next season.
