It’s the final sprint in the National Assembly, Friday, February 17, for the last day of discussions on pension reform.

Time is running out for MEPs, as they have until midnight on Friday 17 February to consider over 8,000 amendments in total and there are still over 3,000 amendments left before they get to Article 7, which concerns the extension of the retirement age. This is the challenge of this day: will the deputies arrive at this article 7 or not? And we see divisions appearing on the left, between the PS, the French Communist Party and some of La France insoumise, which withdraw many amendments to arrive more quickly at article 7 and be able to vote for it.

Motion of censure tabled by the National Rally

On the other hand, there are other deputies from La France insoumise who say that we must not rush so as not to reach the vote in particular and avoid a political victory for the government, in case the article 7 would be adopted. The other issue is the motion of censure tabled by the National Rally. Will it be discussed today or not?, wonders the journalist from France Télévisions, Sofia Dollé, live from the National Assembly (Paris).
