Canada’s Marielle Thompson won silver at the Ski Cross World Cup in Reiteralm, Austria on Thursday morning.
Thompson, a 30-year-old skier from North Vancouver, was edged out by Sweden’s Sandra Naeslund in the final. The podium was completed by the German Daniela Maier.
This is his fifth podium this season on the World Cup circuit. Thompson, Olympic champion in Sochi in 2014, ranks second in the discipline rankings, behind Naeslund.
Maple Leaf representatives Hannah Schmidt and Tiana Gairns competed in the small final, and they finished sixth and eighth, respectively.
On the men’s side, the Canadian Kevin Drury ended up at the foot of the podium.
The competition was won by Sweden’s David Mobaerg, ahead of Frenchmen Youri Duplessis Kergomard and Bastien Midol, in order.
