More and more crimes are being committed with drone assistance. These devices can be piloted remotely and offer less exposure to criminals.
Discreet, fast and increasingly efficient, the drone held in the hands of criminals are worrying the French authorities, as stated in a confidential note from the Minister of the Interior obtained by France Télévisions. Drone flights over prisons are increasing: 68 in 2022, compared to around 40 in 2019. “The fear of the prison administration is that one day these drones will be used to deliver weapons, or explosives“, explains Frédéric Ploquin, great reporter and author of the book French narcos break the omerta.
Act remotely
In Reims (Marne), criminals dismantled the hatch of an ATM, then used the drone to press a button and open the door. Criminals can also act remotely. To fight against these dangerous aircraft, French law enforcement agencies use drone jamming guns. The device will be used in particular during the Rugby World Cup in 2023, and the Olympic Games in 2024.
