(Jerusalem) Israel carried out airstrikes against a Hamas military compound in Gaza overnight from Sunday to Monday in response to a rocket fired from Palestinian territory, the army said early Monday.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said one person was killed in a pre-dawn raid by the Israeli army in Nablus in the northern West Bank, the scene of near-incessant violence for a year.
The Israeli army did not comment on the strike.
As for Gaza, she said that “in response to the launch of a rocket from Gaza into Israel on Saturday, IDF warplanes struck an underground complex overnight containing raw materials used for the manufacture of rockets belonging to the terrorist organization Hamas”, on Twitter.
After the Israeli strikes, sirens sounded in communities near the Gaza border, the army said. There was no immediate confirmation on Monday of retaliatory rocket fire from the Palestinian side.
