Dozens of faithful from a church in Tincques, in the Pas-de-Calais, were poisoned by carbon monoxide on Saturday February 11. The people affected were taken care of and no casualties are to be deplored.
More than 200 faithful gathered for an exceptional mass, Saturday February 11, in Tincques (Pas-de-Calais). But Anne-Sophie and Christophe, like other people, are quickly seized with headaches during the ceremony. “We had a little hot flashes, we felt a little muddy. And then it was when we went out, talking (…) that we quickly realized that we had surely been poisoned by carbon monoxide“, she testifies.
No casualties to report
“We had no idea what was going on. And since it’s odorless and colorless, we couldn’t predict”, says Christophe. A defective heating placed in the heart of the church would be at the origin of this intoxication. The emergency services were alerted around 9 p.m. 42 firefighters took care of 72 people. No casualties are to be deplored, and the building is accessible again, even if the mayor of the town wants to remain vigilant.
