Pension reform “corresponds to the very identity of the right, to the DNA of the right”, assumes Sunday February 12 on franceinfo Agnès Evren, MEP and vice-president of the party Les Républicains. She notes in particular that the text, examined since the beginning of the week in the National Assembly, contains key elements for her party, namely “the reduction of public expenditure, the value of work and the purchasing power of retirees”. “It is LR who holds the key to this vote”, says Agnès Evren. The vice-president of Les Républicains believes that her party “would bear a heavy responsibility if the reform did not pass”.
It therefore calls on the members of the LR party to “show clarity and unity”, referring there to the dissensions which appear between the number 2 of the party, Aurélien Pradié, and the boss of the LR senators, Bruno Retailleau. While Aurélien Pradié continues to be unfavorable to the text, Bruno Retailleau threatens to withdraw his post if he does not vote for the text. “That there are debates and sometimes differences in approach is normal, but small personal strategies and speaking out in all directions are unacceptable., explains Agnès Evren. She considers that participates in a form of cacophony that weakens us all”.
“The account is not there yet”
The vice-president of the Les Républicains party nevertheless admits that it is “normal” for some members of his party “to put pressure on the government to obtain progress”. She recognizes that “despite the progress made by Éric Ciotti and Olivier Marleix, the account is not there yet”. She cites in particular “the absence of a birth rate policy” and the importance of conducting a “fight against fraud on pensions paid abroad”. Finally, if she calls “expand the device” long careers “to those who started working at 16”Agnès Evren judge “impossible” Aurélien Pradié’s proposal. The LR deputy for Lot wants any quarter validated before the age of 21 to be taken into account. “It would derail the reform on the budgetary level”criticizes the right-wing MEP.
