A virtual meeting between the prime ministers expected

Better access to health care requires increased funding in the network. It is therefore becoming urgent for the Legault government to conclude an agreement with Ottawa on health transfers.

Moreover, an important meeting of the premiers on this subject will take place on Monday.

Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario said he was in talks with the federal government to reach a bilateral agreement.

“We had some good conversations yesterday,” he says. “Our common goal is to achieve an excellent agreement that will be lasting.”

Quebec seems to be a more difficult province to negotiate with, but Jean-Yves Duclos, federal Minister of Health, still reaches out to his counterpart, Christian Dubé for a possible meeting.

“The Government of Canada has announced significant amounts in the last few days,” he explains. “I look forward to working with Mr. Dubé and I told him that I was at his disposal. Mr. Trudeau sent the same message to Mr. Legault.”
