(Montreal) Two arson attacks occurred less than an hour apart in the same sector of the borough of Saint-Laurent, in Montreal, and in similar circumstances during the night from Wednesday to Thursday.
The fires targeted two restaurants, reported the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The first occurred around 3:10 a.m. on boulevard Marcel-Laurin, near boulevard Thimens. When police arrived, the fire had been brought under control by firefighters.
According to the SPVM, the shop window was smashed and an incendiary object was thrown inside.
The second event took place a few hundred meters further, around 3:50 a.m., on boulevard de la Côte-Vertu near boulevard Marcel-Laurin. Firefighters also quickly brought the flames under control. The fire affected the outdoor terrace of the establishment on which an incendiary object was projected.
Like the first fire, the SPVM reported no injuries and reported minor damage.
“Although the event took place not far from another arson and the circumstances are similar, the SPVM cannot confirm or deny a link between the two fires at this stage of the investigations,” said the spokesperson. of the Montreal police, officer Véronique Dubuc.
The SPVM fire section has been mandated to shed light on these two events.
