Rescuers are working day and night in Turkey and Syria to try to save lives following the devastating earthquake that hit the region on Monday (February 6th).

There is life there under the rubble of a building in Aleppo, Syria, devastated by an earthquake on Monday, February 6. After long minutes of work, these Syrian rescuers managed to extract a little boy. He is alive. Very quickly, the child is taken to the nearest hospital, while the dust prevents him from breathing properly. Still in northern Syria, a little girl also finds the light of day. The child clings to his rescuer, completely confused. The rescuer himself seems not to come back.

Minimal chance of survival beyond three days

These scenarios are repeated almost everywhere on both sides of the Turkish-Syrian border. Rescuers know it: you have to act quickly, because time is running out. Beyond three days after the earthquake, the chances of survival are slim. So, day and night, the search continues. A young woman is pulled from the rubble, her stretcher is carried at arm’s length by dozens of people. In Turkey, a young man is found, still in shock. Lives saved from the disaster and reunion scenes that give some hope to these traumatized inhabitants.
