The Mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, is in Mexico until February 9 to lead an economic mission during which some twenty Montreal companies and organizations will try to forge ties with the Mexican multimedia, architecture and the arts.
This mission is organized in collaboration with the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, Tourisme Montréal and the organization Montréal International.
The Montreal delegation has about fifty people. There are representatives from C2 Montréal, the Conseil des arts de Montréal, FLIP Fabrique, La Piscine, 7 Doigts de la main, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, the Orchester symphonique de Montréal, the Quartier des spectacles and Rodeo FX, among others.
REAL by FAKE, a Quebec visual effects, post-production and animation studio, announced on this occasion the opening of a branch in Mexico City.
In its first year, the organization plans to hire about a hundred artists, including 2D and 3D animators. “We estimate that by the end of 2024, this office will generate more than 30% of our revenues,” said Marc Côté, founder and president of the company, in a press release. “Mexico City is an important cultural center in a very rich environment in terms of creativity. Our presence in Mexico will allow us both to increase our expertise and to access a vast pool of visual effects artists. It will also contribute to the influence of Québec expertise in the industry. »
The REAL by FAKE studio has created the visual effects for films and series by the late director Jean-Marc Vallée, such as CRAZY, Flora Coffee, Demolition, Wild, The Dallas Buyers Club, Big Little Lies And Sharp Objectsamong others.
“This expansion will make it possible to discover new talent and develop new partnerships between artists from Montreal and Mexico, which will certainly benefit both cities,” said Valérie Plante in a press release.
