Thousands of buildings have collapsed in southeastern Turkey and northern Syria. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake surprised residents in their sleep on the night of February 6. The provisional toll is around 2,600 dead.
Lives slashed in a fraction of a second. During the day on Monday February 6, buildings continued to collapse in Turkey, after aftershocks from the earthquake that took place earlier in the night. A reporter was live when another earthquake struck. There the strongest tremor occurred at 4:17 a.m. with a magnitude of 7.8. The epicenter is in Turkey, Pazarcik.
Several neighborhoods destroyed in Syria
The earthquake occurred in the middle of the night, when the inhabitants were sleeping. There are thousands of dead and missing. Prisoners of the rubble, some send calls for help on social networks. “We’re stuck, my eyebrow is bleeding, I can’t hear my friend. If anyone can hear me please come and help us”thus launches a victim. Helped by the inhabitants, the emergency services searched each building in the hope of finding survivors. In northern Syria, the earthquake wiped several neighborhoods off the map.
