(Montreal) Quebec Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, Martine Biron, is flying to Paris on Sunday, where she will meet with representatives of international organizations.
“This mission will be an opportunity for the minister to consolidate the relationship and establish Quebec’s leadership with the International Organization of La Francophonie,” her office said in a press release.
During his stay, which will last until Wednesday, Mme Biron also plans to meet officials from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
“I intend to occupy the field and make Quebec’s voice heard in the world,” the minister said in the press release. “We should also remember that Quebec’s leadership is recognized on the international scene, particularly in terms of the Francophonie, culture, education and energy transition. »
She intends to address the promotion of the French language, in particular through the discoverability of French-speaking content online, but also artificial intelligence and gender equality.
The potential inclusion of Anticosti on the UNESCO World Heritage List is also on the menu of discussions.
This diplomatic visit takes place a few months after the Summit of La Francophonie last November, in Tunisia.
Mme Biron also traveled to Senegal and the Ivory Coast at the end of January.
