(Paris) The Chinese Zhu Lin won the first title of her career at the WTA 250 tournament in Hua Hin (Thailand) by beating the Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko in the final (6-4, 6-4).
In a match where both players struggled to win their service games, the Chinese proved to be the strongest at the end of the sets. She won after 1h46 of play.
To reach the final, Zhu Lin, 54e world, had eliminated his compatriots Wang Xiyu and Wang Xinju as well as the Korean Su Jeong Jang and the Slovenian Tamara Zidansek.
At 29, Zhu Lin confirms her good start to the season after her round of 16 at the Australian Open, where she notably beat Maria Sakkari, then 6e world player. She finally bowed to Victoria Azarenka.
Thanks to this first coronation, the right-hander will continue her progression in the standings, she who had never gone higher than 58e place before this season.
