(Toronto) Alex Steeves scored twice as the Toronto Marlies beat the Laval Rocket 4-1 on Friday.
Mikhail Abramov and Marshall Rifai were the other scorers for the Marlies, who were able to count on 25 saves from Joseph Woll.
Abramov broke the tie 1-1 with less than a minute left in the second period.
Peter Abbandonato netted for the Rocket and Cayden Primeau blocked 32 shots.
The Rocket was shut out in two powerplays. Toronto converted one in four such chances.
The two clubs will meet again at 4 p.m. Saturday, once again at the Coca-Cola Coliseum.
