NHL | Crosby and Ovechkin reunited for the All-Star Game

(Sunrise) Alexander Ovechkin said he and Sidney Crosby would sit down over a beer to talk about their careers someday, and his rival agrees.

For now, the duo bound together by talent and circumstance since each’s NHL debut still has a lot to accomplish before retirement.

The two players, who are in their 18e season, dream of winning another Stanley Cup.

Ovechkin is also in the hunt for Wayne Gretzky’s record for most goals in history.

Crosby has 1469 points and Ovechkin 1464.

Crosby can’t wait to see the Washington Capitals captain equalize and surpass Gretzky’s record.

“He’s on track to break the record,” said the Penguins star, who was scheduled to compete in the breakaway challenge at Friday’s skills competition with his rival. I hope he will succeed. »

Both have been involved in several epic playoff games, but also know retirement is near.

“It’s definitely something I appreciate more and more over time,” Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins captain, said of his league adventure with Ovechkin. To be able to play against him year after year and see what he continues to achieve is pretty unique. »

For health and other reasons, Crosby and Ovechkin, 35 and 37, will only play their fourth All-Star Game together on Saturday.

Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk and his brother, Matthew, who plays for the Florida Panthers, were in Crosby’s first All-Star Game in Dallas in 2007.

“Being there and talking to them is what you dream of as a kid,” Brady Tkachuk said. It’s really fun. »
