Two police officers were inconvenienced by smoke Friday morning in the east of Montreal, when they proceeded with firefighters to evacuate occupants whose apartments were on fire.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reports that the two officers will be saved. The accident caused no injuries.
The fire was reported to authorities around 7:45 a.m. by a call made to the 911 emergency telephone exchange.

Firefighters were quick to notice that intense smoke was spreading to a building housing commercial establishments on the ground floor and residential spaces on the upper floors.
Upon their arrival on the scene, on rue Sherbrooke Est near the intersection of avenue de Carignan, firefighters from the Montreal Fire Department (SSIM) noted that intense smoke was reaching the building housing establishments commercial spaces on the ground floor and residential spaces on the upper floors.
According to the SPVM, despite the scale of the disaster and the very intense cold raging in Montreal, the evacuation of the occupants of the building went well.
Around 10 a.m., the flame extinguishing operations continued, in difficult conditions for the firefighters.
