A dramatic turn of events in Val-d’Espoir, near Percé, in Gaspésie: Fred the gaspé marmot was found lifeless early Thursday morning when she had to make her traditional weather forecast.
Organizers broke the news to the approximately 250 people gathered to witness the prediction.
However, some children have taken over with a stuffed groundhog and as she has seen her shadow, spring will be late.
For his part, Phil the groundhog also predicted a late winter.
