Something new at “Duty” | The duty

If there is one undeniable observation around which the media have gravitated for years, it is that this marvelous universe is in constant transformation. The impending closure of the printing works of Quebec newspaper, where our paper editions intended for the Quebec and Eastern Quebec market are printed, forces us to review our ways of doing things. In order to be able to produce all of our paper editions at our printer located in Mirabel and to allow time for the transport of copies intended for the eastern Quebec market, our deadline will be brought forward. The changes mainly affect the organization of work and will have no impact on our coverage of events, which will not be reduced by this new internal schedule. As is currently the case, late night news will be found on our website and mobile app.

It’s been a long time since the digital platforms of the To have to allow us to cover the news continuously and to broadcast our original content. We are therefore continuing this shift by continuing to offer a print edition that offers the best of who we are: exclusive news, “impact stories”, analysis and opinion, depth on current news. Alterations made to our model will allow you to find today on page A 2 a summary of the essentials of the day before, in the form of a summary.

I take this opportunity to announce the official hiring as cartoonist of Éric Godin, whom our readers have already been seeing since 2019, the year he began to collaborate with the newspaper. Mr. Godin collaborated in To seeat Radio-Canada, at The Pressat Reader’s Digest and at the ONF, among other houses that have welcomed his talent. Sculptor, painter, author, illustrator and editorial cartoonist, this multidisciplinary artist is also the television co-creator of the cartoon Baby girl and Little Laurent illustrated.

We are also opening our pages and our platforms to a new columnist, François William Croteau, former mayor of the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie and now senior director, strategy and innovation, at Innovitech, among other activities. At To have to, he will write a column focusing in particular on innovation in cities, citizen participation and the capacity of communities to adapt to the climate crisis. To our investigative team, made up of Améli Pineda and Stéphanie Vallet, will be added Ulysse Bergeron, whose talent as a reporter has already made it possible to produce major investigations. Happy reading!
