The FTA unveils five shows

The program for the next Festival TransAmériques, which will bear the signature of the new artistic co-directors Martine Dennewald and Jessie Mill, is beginning to take shape. Indeed, the festival unveiled Tuesday five shows coming this spring.

The presence in Montreal of actress Adèle Haenel, who we saw in particular in the film Portrait of the girl on fire, is likely to attract attention, especially since the latter will be directed by director Gisèle Vienne, well known to festival-goers for her works that challenge theatrical conventions. This will undoubtedly be the case with The Pondwhose text is signed by the writer and poet Robert Walser.

In dance, Northern Irish choreographer Oona Doherty will be in Montreal for the first time with Navy Blue, a work carried by 12 performers of all generations and presented on the main stage of the Théâtre Maisonneuve. This contemporary ballet will unfold both on the 2e piano concerto by Rachmaninoff and on an electronic score.

As for Quebec productions, let’s note two shows signed by the Chelsea company L’eau du bain. Inspired by The sickness of death by Marguerite Duras, the play White Out will immerse the public in a “sensory and poetic” theatrical experience. In this same setting, the company will present a work for young audiences entitled The children’s room and which will bring together a troupe of young performers between childhood and adolescence.

Finally, the street dancing will be invited to the Monument-National with In My Body, signed by Canadian choreographer and b-boy Yvon Soglo alias Crazy Smooth. Here, nine performers from three distinct generations will question their own limits in a “celebration of the diversity of bodies. »

Single tickets for these shows are already on sale. Note that the TransAmériques festival is presented from May 24 to June 6.
