For the first time since the 2017 season, the Philadelphia Eagles will be in the Super Bowl by virtue of a 31-17 victory over the 49ers from San Francisco, Sunday afternoon.
It will have been easier than expected for the troop led by Jalen Hurts. The quarterback was even invisible. As expected, the Eagles defense was imperial against the California threat.
It should be noted, however, that Brock Purdy suffered an elbow injury at the end of the first quarter. The team’s fourth quarterback, Josh Johnson, arrived in relief, before suffering a concussion.
Purdy came back into the fray in the third quarter, but the Niners played on the ground the vast majority of the game.
The forces were unequal.
For their part, the Eagles were able to save themselves for the most important duel of the season.
The locals’ four touchdowns were scored on the ground. Myles Sanders, twice, Boston Scott and Jalen Hurts entered the end zone.
