Saint-Hyacinthe | Forced entry seriously injured

Two men were injured during a break-in in Saint-Hyacinthe, Montérégie, on the night of Friday to Saturday, reports the Sûreté du Québec. The life of one of them is in danger.


In the middle of the night, around 1 a.m., one or more suspects entered a residence on Saint-François Avenue, in the heart of Saint-Hyacinthe.

An altercation ensued between the intruders and people on site. Two victims, men aged 37 and 58 respectively, were then found by police officers from the MRC des Maskoutains, said Catherine Bernard, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

They were taken to hospital. The 50-year-old was then in critical condition and he is still fighting for his life.

The suspect(s) reportedly fled before police arrived.

An investigation has been opened by the SQ’s Major Crimes Investigation Division. The forensic identification service was also dispatched to the scene.
