New Delhi, India, is the most polluted capital in the world. It alone generates 11,000 metric tons of waste per day, only half of which is treated. The rest of the waste ends up in the three landfills on the outskirts of the city. In the wake of the fires that raged last summer in one of them, which is referred to as the “Mount Everest of waste”, the authorities are now promising to increase the sorting capacity of the city.
