The CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal asks the public to avoid the emergency room at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont from 11 p.m., Monday, to 8 a.m., Tuesday morning.
The management of the Integrated University Health and Social Services Center came to make this appeal to the population because of an “exceptional situation”, at a time when nurses were expressing their dissatisfaction with the management practices of the management, in particular regarding the use of compulsory overtime.
“Patients currently in the emergency room and unstable patients arriving by ambulance will remain admitted to ensure safety. Outpatients will not be able to be taken care of tonight. The other ambulances will be redirected during the closing period to other establishments in the greater Montreal area,” said the CIUSSS in a press release published Monday evening.
During this period, the CIUSSS reminds that people whose situation is not urgent can consult their family doctor or pharmacist, a doctor in a walk-in clinic or contact the Info-Santé line at 8- 1-1.
The entire team of nurses and auxiliary nurses in the hospital’s emergency room, i.e. around a hundred nurses, demands the immediate resignation of its unit head, failing which she undertakes to submit her resignation in block Wednesday.
