A 193-unit seniors’ residence funded entirely by the public sector was inaugurated with great fanfare on Monday next to the Rosemont metro station. Half of these units will be for low-income people.
The construction of the 10-storey building required an investment from the three levels of government totaling approximately $112 million. This building is overseen by the Office municipal d’habitation de Montréal, which manages the city’s social housing stock.
Moreover, 96 of the 193 units in this building benefit from the Rent Supplement Program of the Société d’habitation du Québec. This allows low-income people to spend 25% of their income on housing.
The minimum age to live in this building is 75, but some people over 60 with functional autonomy issues can also stay here.
