A head-on collision between two vehicles in Sainte-Eulalie, in Centre-du-Québec, on Sunday left a seriously injured man who is in critical condition in hospital.
A driver suffered serious injuries in a collision around 12:30 p.m. Sunday on Highway 955 in Sainte-Eulalie. This small municipality in Centre-du-Québec is located about forty kilometers from Trois-Rivières, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River.
This portion of Highway 955, near the Trans-Canada Highway, has one lane in each “meeting” direction, says Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, meaning that the vehicles may end up in the opposite lane.
For some unknown reason, this is what happened on Sunday between two vehicles and their respective drivers were involved in a violent collision. One of the drivers had to be hospitalized with serious life-threatening injuries, said Mr.me Dorsainville. The other person involved is not seriously injured, she adds.
Highway 955 was completely closed in the afternoon, and a detour was set up by the Quebec Ministry of Transport.
A police officer specializing in investigations and collisions was dispatched to analyze the scene, which is under expertise.
