Return to shows: a tour of the block to start

Fortunately, we can trust Flybin. In January, there will be him. And him. And him. All around him. Michael Rivard indeed offers a large Tower of the block, a walk through its half-century of scenes (60 years if we add the pre-Beau Dommage: Quenouille Bleue, Famille Casgrain, that goes back a long way). After the theater of the origin of his species, a revisit of the repertoire is the right way to come back to today: in songs.

But still ? Not strong, again. To believe that winter and spring are used to pass the time while waiting for the festival season, Francos, FIJM, Osheaga. There’s Montréal en lumière, in February, but between bites and screenings, the part played by song and music is so congruent (the Symphonic Riopelle to Wilfrid, Kimbra and Caroline Savoy at Studio TD, good hearer at the MTelus) that it goes a little unnoticed.

We will nevertheless highlight, at the birth of March, a 1969 promising, show of the collective album of the same name, which will bring together Half Moon Run, the Boulay Sisters, Matt Holubowski, Safia Nolin, Elliot Maginot, Elisapie, Claudia Bouvette, Jason Bajada and Joseph Mihalcean at the MTelus. An evening at the Francos, well. To put it mildly: an evening in the old fashion of Montréal en lumière. Note: one evening. One evening is not a return, certainly not a season either.

Bruce’s season without Bruce

Back home shy, but back home. There will be good Journey, and then Museand especially the exceptional Weyes Blood, during the same month. There will be Milk & Bone which, after a little run-in in Ontario, will give us a first media for the album Chrysalism at the Phi Center. Blue Jeans Blue, from January 27 at Club Soda, will walk his Top Kitty everywhere, all year round. And let’s not forget Paul Piche which, casually, goes from the anniversary tour of the 40 years of career to that of the 35 years of the album On the way to the firesand will cross one or the other bridge (the one that will be open) to reach L’Outremont at the February premiere.

But neither this month, nor the previous ones, nor the following ones will we have what we need most. Namely: the return to the stage of Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band. Neither Montreal nor Quebec, according to the latest news, are expected in the team. The salutary spring tour does not concern us: Bruce and Co. start in February in Tampa, roll a long way in the United States, will wake up the old countries and after, we will see. Let’s dream of Osheaga, of the FEQ, hopefully next year, let’s live in hope.

Admittedly, it’s not just Bruce who can restore his health, but it’s a symbol for the generation of the signatory of these lines. Of scarcity. It’s not by tearing out what remains of our eardrums at the MTelus with the deaf George Thorogood and its Destroyers that we will feed our minds and stomachs. Rather, it will knock you out. Certainly, for another generation, it is the review of Blink-182 who will do the noisy business (in May, like Thorogood). However, we will have to wait until August and Metallica at the Olympic Stadium for some real noise. It won’t be back to school so much anymore, note: three shows scorching. Beware of erosion, crumbling, collapse. This stage is suspended, for lack of constant utility.

Beware of the ticket office

Instead of Bruce, we will have additional fees. If you don’t have your tickets for Angela, for example, think line of credit. The Belgian idol, who is coming to the Bell Center at the end of April, presented by Evenko/Live Nation, is under the stock market regime which makes the price of the remaining tickets dependent on demand. For Roxane Bruneau in the same place, even Depeche Mode Where Muse, it should be fine. But Lizzo, May 4? If it’s not already full, it will be au gratin.

Perhaps it is more advantageous to follow artists who are not followed worldwide. One Duufor example, singer-songwriter and musician from Quebec, will be on January 20 and 21 in small, welcoming places to offer shoots from his album Arboretum : the Pantoum in Quebec, and the Ausgang Plaza in Montreal. It is certainly there that we will feel alive, in the fragrant, olfactory joy, in short, in the sensory compost of the first harbingers of spring. The Taverne Tour, as such, invites where new and less new artists continue their work of proximity. The tour of the grounds around the block, sort of.
