A video shot three years earlier in which we see the All-City High School Orchestra of Philadelphia playing and singing “Happy Birthday” to maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin has resurfaced on TikTok. And she is having great success.
The video posted by @quaver.ch on TikTok has gone viral. As of this writing, the video has clocked up 1.9 million likes, 8,031 comments, and 12.8 million views.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, it will probably not be the last time a surprise of this kind will be reserved for Maestro Nézet-Séguin. “Whenever Yannick is in town on his birthday, these impromptu performances tend to happen,” said Philadelphia Orchestra communications chief Ashley Berke.
Remember that Yannick Nézet-Séguin is the musical director of the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Metropolitan Opera.
