(Kranjska Gora) Canadian Valérie Grenier won the first giant of Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) on Saturday, the first success of her career in the World Cup.
Grenier, 26, was ahead of the Italian Marta Bassino by 37 hundredths and the Slovak Petra Vhlova by 40 hundredths.
It is the first victory for a Canadian skier in a giant World Cup since Kathy Kreiner in 1974.
The American Mikaela Shiffrin, in search of an 82e success in the World Cup which would allow him to equal the record of his compatriot Lindsay Vonn, finished in 6e square.
