Discovery of a corpse near Roxham Road

The body of a man was found Wednesday afternoon in Montérégie, near the Roxham Road crossing point used by a large number of migrants to enter Canada from the United States.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) confirmed that the body was located around 2:45 p.m. in this sector of Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle.

However, Sergeant Louis-Philippe Ruel reports that the investigation into this event has only just begun.

The police are currently unable to say if the man found dead had crossed the border from the United States, if he was trying, on the contrary, to move towards American territory or if it was a person who was already staying in the area.

The SQ reports that there was no one near the body when it was seen.

It is not known whether the corpse of the unfortunate bore any marks of violence.

This tragedy comes nearly a year after the bodies of four migrants were found near Emerson, Manitoba, near the border between Canada and the United States.
