By rising among the top 25 of their respective event on Wednesday, in Oberstdorf, Antoine Cyr and Katherine Stewart-Jones both improved their fate in the provisional general classification of the Tour de ski.
Cyr now occupies 17e rank of the event with three races to go. He recorded the seventh fastest time in the 20-kilometre freestyle pursuit on Wednesday to finish in 24e place (41 min 52.8 s) after the bonuses.
“I missed the final a bit, which suited me very well, but the form is good and I’m happy with what I’ve achieved so far. With the lack of snow and the track conditions, I hadn’t had the day I was hoping for in the 10 kilometer classic [mardi]but I recovered very well,” shared the Gatineau resident, who was ranked 32e the day before.
“It was the first time this year where we had such conditions and I think that surprised us. It motivated me to do well today and get a good result in the pursuit. Seventh of the day, it’s really great! »
Sherbrooke resident Olivier Léveillé ranked 35e with a time of 42 min 57.7 s, which places him in the same position in the provisional general classification.
Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo remained undefeated in the Tour de ski after four outings, winning in 41:35.8.
For her part, Katherine Stewart-Jones finished 21e thanks to a time of 50 min 50.2 s, the 15e of the day in pursuit. She points to 23e echelon of the women’s classification of the Tour de ski.
Sweden’s Frida Karlsson won the event with a time of 48 min 2.6 s. Liliane Gagnon took the 44e rank and is tentatively 48e in the general classification.
The last three events of the Tour de ski will be presented in Val di Flemme, Italy, from January 6 to 8.
