Seized by Olympique Lyonnais on Tuesday, the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) confirmed the decision of the Professional Football League (LFP) to play behind closed doors the match against Reims on Wednesday (9 p.m.), reported the Rhone club.
OL declared “take note” the CNOSF’s proposal to stick to the LFP’s decision to impose at the club a game behind closed doors as a precaution after a plastic water bottle was thrown over the head of Marseillais Dimitri Payet during the meeting between Lyon and OM on November 21. An incident which had led to the final stoppage of the match.
A conciliation hearing with the CNOSF was organized Tuesday in Paris and OL will therefore face Reims on Wednesday, without an audience in its stadium.
“Olympique Lyonnais regrets this decision of the LFP penalizing the club following an isolated act while noting that the CNOSF underlines that this protective measure of total closed door at Groupama Stadium will in any event not be intended to to last beyond a home meeting as supported by the representatives of the LFP during the hearing “, specifies a press release from the Rhone club.
Olympique Lyonnais takes note of the CNOSF’s conciliation on the precautionary measure establishing a total closed session for the OL – Reims match. The meeting will therefore be played without an audience this Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

“Until now, only mass acts had resulted in provisional measures”, points out OL, the Rhone club recalling “the importance of balanced, proportional and homogeneous decisions with the others taken since the start of the season by the disciplinary committee”.
The latter must announce on December 8 the final sanctions after the investigation of the case, but the Lyon club insists “on his desire to be judged solely on the isolated fact which concerns him without being penalized more heavily than during the mass incidents which may have taken place in other stadiums in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2”.
